Former Miss Universo Ximena Navarrete has revealed that she will not be starring in Telemundo's new Telenovela "El Señor de los Cielos."

The model told reporters that she had never received an invitation to participate in the project and added that she had been congratulated by fans despite having no idea about the project.

Navarrete is currently the face of the second annual Kardias marathon. The marathon will raise funds for the Kardias Foundation, an organization that helps children with heart disease. 10,000 people are expected to participate. Navarrete stated that she will run in the marathon despite admitting that she is not a great runner.

Navarrete added that one in 120 children in Mexico is born with heart disease and more than 14,000 are in need of treatment. The beauty queen will be joined by stars Daniel Arenas, Paul Stanley, Omar Chaparro y Luz Elena Gonzalez in the marathon.

Navarrete recently auditioned for the new soap opera "La Tempestad" for which she is short-listed as the female lead. Recent reports indicate that she might be the front-runner to land the role.

"EL Señor de Los Cielos" is slated to air later this year on Telemundo with Rafael Amaya as the male lead. The novela also stars Carmen Villalobos, Sara Corrales, Fernando Solórzano, Julián Arango and Mario Cimarro.
