Actress Penelope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem are expecting a second child.

The news was first reported by The New York Post and later confirmed by multiple sources and reported by various news sources.

The "Vicky Christina Barcelona" actress gave birth to her first child, Leonardo, in January 2011, six months after the acting duo got married at a friend's home in the Bahamas, according to Us Magazine.

And the 38-year-old actor said that her first pregnancy changed her forever.

"From the first second, you feel so much love," Cruz told Vogue in an interview for the June 2011 issue. "It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

Monica Cruz, Penelope's younger sister, is pregnant as well, so the two siblings will be going through their pregnancies at the same time, at least for a few months.

Monica announced her pregnancy a few weeks ago and said that she was impregnated via an anonymous sperm donor.

"So I've decided to talk about it: I have resorted to artificial insemination in order to get pregnant," Monica, 35, posted on her blog for the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

"A 40-year-old woman is very young and she feels very young but the maternity thing goes another way. It is measured with another clock that unfortunately we do not control. I've become very informed on the subject. It turns out that after 37 the possibilities of becoming pregnant decrease at an alarming rate."

Penelope's representative would not comment on her client's pregnancy. But according to E! Online, the mother-to-be is reportedly "around three months" pregnant according to the site's sources.
