There may be a new front-runner in the race for the lead role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of the best selling erotic series "50 Shades of Grey." For the past few weeks, 'Game of Thrones' actress Emilia Clarke has come on top of several fan polls conducted by Latinos Post, besting former fan favorite Alexis Bledel ('Gilmore Girls').

The 26-year-old British actress, who currently portrays Daenerys Targaryen in 'Game of Thrones,' has told reporters that she doesn't enjoy shooting nude scenes, but is willing to do them if a role calls for it, Gather Entertainment reported. According to one fan quoted by the site, Clarke would make the perfect Anastasia Steele.

"She's young, talented, fine with nudity/sex, pale, petite, big eyes, great body, delicate features, etc...all the things Christian loves about Ana :)," the fan wrote. According to Gather, landing the role would also allow the young actress to transition from TV to the big screen.

Fans certainly seem eager to have Clarke play the role of the shy, collegiate Anastasia Steele, who enters into a BDSM with millionaire Christian Grey. In the last fan poll conducted by Latinos Post, Clarke ranked ahead of Alexis Bledel by just a few percentage points. Fellow British actress Felicity Jones followed closely behind in third place.

However, British author E.L. James and her screenwriter Kelly Marcel have told reporters that finding a director will be crucial in the casting process. Both have also said that no casting decisions will be made until the script is finished. Marcel joined the production team, consisting of producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, in October.

The film, which is slated to be one of four, has not established a release date yet.
