Côte d'Ivoire and Algeria face off in the final match of Group D at the African Cup of Nations 2013.

Côte d'Ivoire has already booked a quarterfinals berth and is slated to face off against Nigeria in the knockout phase. The team defeated Togo 2-1 in its first game and then beat down Tunisia in its second match. Yaya Toure and Gervinho have each tallied two goals in the tournament for Côte d'Ivoire. The squad made it all the way to the finals in 2012, but lost in penalty shots to Zambia by the score of 8-7.

Their opponents on Wednesday will be Algeria, a team already eliminated from contention. The Algerians have yet to score a single goal in two matches and lost both games. In their opener against Tunisia, the team let up a goal in the stoppage time of the second half. In the ensuing match against Togo, Algeria conceded two goals in a 2-0 loss.

Predictions: Algeria actually has more to play for than Côte d'Ivoire. While the Ivory Coast has locked up its knockout round matchup, Algeria wants to end the tournament with some dignity or at least one goal scored. Nonetheless, I think Côte d'Ivoire wins this 3-0.
