HTC has confirmed that February 19 will be the day that they announce something big. The company sent out invitations for a press event on Tuesday, February 19, which was the rumored date for an unveiling of the HTC M7, we reported last week.

The leak was correct about the date, which is a week ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) that starts in Barcelona, Spain Feb. 25. However, the rumors were wrong when it comes to venue. The HTC event will be held in New York City, and not in London, as the leak had it.

There's no confirmation that the HTC press event is for the unveiling of the HTC M7, but it is reasonable to assume that, since the long-rumored M7 is HTC's best shot at a competitive top-of-the-line smartphone, and since the event is conveniently a week before most other companies' smartphone unveilings at the MWC.

Over the last two weeks, leaks about the M7 have been piling up and coming faster. First, a rendered graphic of the rumored M7 hit the net, followed a week later by an actual photograph of the new phone, followed by a list of carriers for the new HTC M7, a few days after that.

The HTC M7's rumored specs have been around for a while, though. It will likely have a 1.7GHz Quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. The screen size is likely to be 4.7 inches, with 1080p high-definition output. It will have two cameras, a front-facing camera at 2 megapixels and a main camera with 13 megapixels. It will likely run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

*Update: Apparently the event will happen in London as well, according to TheNextWeb.
