Two of Samsung's older, yet still-popular devices, the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note, are currently slated to get their Jelly Bean fill over the course of the coming weeks. For owners of those handsets who are simply tired of waiting, they can go ahead and grab Android 4.1.2 firmwares manually. Be warned though - you do so at your own risk.

Make sure to back up your device and read instructions carefully before attempting to install any of the following firmwares onto your handset. There's a chance something could go wrong and your smartphone will brick, meaning it's unusable, so just bear in mind that there's an inherent risk when taking matters into your own hands.

Owners of the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 can head over to SamMobile and grab the official Android 4.1.2 update released by Samsung by typing in "GT-I9100" into the search bar at the top right. Keep in mind that the official upgrade has only been released in Spain and China so far, so those are the only two versions available. Of course, there are plenty of pre-release release versions available (we've heard good things about build I9100XXLSJ), although their stabilities might vary. If your Galaxy S2 is of a different model, simply enter in the model in the search bar, and SamMobile should spit out the firmwares it has on hand.

Galaxy Note owners, unlike Galaxy S2 owners, still haven't started receiving Jelly Bean yet, although that should change within a week or so. Still, SamMobile was able to get their hands on a near-final build last year for the GT-N7000 labeled N7000BLS4TCE. It is from a Mexican carrier, and does carry some bloatware, but the good news is that it comes with Spiderman HD preloaded. SamMobile does state they have tested the build and that it works pretty well.

Like we mentioned earlier, if you aren't 100 percent sure on what you're doing, it's best to simply sit back and wait for the official release to hit you over the air. After all, if you've waited this long, another couple weeks shouldn't hurt too bad.
