More details have emerged about the shooting at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a tweet sent out by the college, the shooting was apparently a dispute "between two individuals."
One of the three hospitalized victims has been identified as Jody Neal, 24. "All I know, he got shot three times," Neal's uncle, Reginald Neal, told Click2Houston.com. "He got shot in one of his arms, in the stomach and the leg."
Jody's sister Stacy told Click2Houston, "He was sitting in the study room. There (were) three people on the computer and a guy walked up the stairs and opened fire on him. They said it was just one guy that came in with a gun."
Three people were wounded in the shooting, according to the latest reports from Click2Houston.com. At least one person has been detained, and a second suspect may be on the loose.
The shooting took place near the university's library, reports Houston's local ABC affiliate, KTRK. Footage showed at least two people being wheeled in ambulances, reports CNN.
"The two victims, we're told, have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but were conscious when they arrived at hospitals," says KTRK. "Both have been taken into surgery. Medical crews could be seen tending to at least three victims outside buildings on campus."
SWAT teams are in the process of evacuated students from several buildings on campus, Yahoo!'s The Lookout blog reports, and four nearby elementary, middle school, and high school campuses have been placed on lockdown as a precaution.
A witness told CNN affiliate KPRC "that she hid under her desk while she heard five or six gunshots."
Agents from the FBI and from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are both on the scene to assist local authorities.
Soon after the shooting, the school posted an alert on its website warning students to take shelter. "LSC-North Harris is locked down," the school said. "Students, faculty and staff are advised to take immediate shelter where you are. Do not enter the campus until notified further."
Recent reports from KHOU in San Antonio suggest that a third person may have been shot, and that one of the shooting victims may have been a suspect.
